Mistake in schloarship negotiation letter
Hey,
So in one of my letters I accidentally put a 5 instead of a 0, so it would read XX,500 instead of XX,000. Is this a big deal, should I sent a follow up email saying I realize I made a mistake ( I am not trying to make them think they gave me more money then they did). I still feel the reasons I give for a possible increase in scholarships are strong and it gets the point across, but.....
And please only honest answers, no flames.

They will probably ask to see the actual scholarship offer, so I would be honest and let them know you made a mistake.

Thanks. I also sent one to the school with the offer, trying to up their offer, and i stated i appreciate XX,500 instead of xx,000 (not in those words obvs). Obviously they know what they offered me, but should i let them know i actually know what they offered me.

I would be less concerned about that than I would about the other school, if I were you. To be honest, it's a small amount either way, and really shouldn't affect things too much.corporatelaw87 wrote:oneforship wrote:They will probably ask to see the actual scholarship offer, so I would be honest and let them know you made a mistake.

Just sent one to first school, just corrected myself and apologized for the mistake. Now for the school that did offer the money, should I correct myself?

You should clear it up with the school you are negotiating with. The school that offered will probably realize you simply made a mistake and not hold it against you, no worries.

You're worried about asking for an extra $1,500?

I hope you aren't serious. You should send one to the offering school that says, "Dear School, I am trying to use your generous scholarship offer as bargaining power over a better school that I would rather attend. Unfortunately, in trying to take advantage of your offer, I mistyped the amount you gave me and over stated it by $500. Please don't hold that fact against me, as it was a mistake. Of course, I am still using you to get to the school I really want."corporatelaw87 wrote:

I'm sure the first school will be happy with your explaination.
