Just found a typo in my PS..what should I do?
OK Guys, save the criticism here because I don't need it. Basically I was going over my personal statement to make a 2 page version of it, and I noticed that the first letter of a random sentence was not capitalized. This was probably a formatting error, but I technically have no excuse since I should have proofread it better.
I am thinking about emailing each one of the schools that I submitted the faulty p/s to and informing them that it was some kind of glitch, and that I don't want it to reflect negatively on my candidacy because I am well aware of what an oversight like that means. The committee has yet to review my application yet, as it is still pending my LSAT score. Once again, the glitch was the inadvertent lowercase of the first letter of a sentence in the middle of my p/s.
If anybody has any positive ideas or suggests please help me out...

Stop reading over your application material after it has been sent. Best advice ever.andyman wrote:OK Guys, save the criticism here because I don't need it. I haven't looked at my PS since I sent my apps out, and I wont until I hear from every school.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. I misspelled "Honorable" on one of my recommendation forms from a judge, and realized it afterward. I've gotten into two schools and waitlisted at one (and my numbers were not particularly strong). My hope was that in all the thousands of apps they got, they overlooked it or didn't care enough for it to influence my status, one of which ended up being true. Also by pointing out such a MINOR mistake as yours, you run the risk of pointing out something to admissions boards that they might not otherwise catch. I just read Catcher in the Rye and noticed two or three typos. But I digress. Underlying point - don't worry. That's my best advice.

Most schools will allow you to send a corrected statement, but will also keep the old one. Some typos won't matter, especially if it's on the last page. On the other hand, detail is important. And it depends on what kind of typo it is. I'm no admissions expert, obviously. Just going off of what I have read and my personal experience.

Yes it does, I called a tour guide and asked her for her opinion and she said the same thing. She also said that since my application hasn't been reviewed yet, I can call the admissions offices and ask to submit a new one. Thanks for your input broChap820 wrote:Does that help?

Killself, obv.
BUT SERIOUSLY, you are fine.
I had five typos in my personal statement (so many changes in sentence structure I just completely left out words). Anyway, at first I freaked out, then I called the admissions offices of every school I sent it to and asked if I could send in a revised copy. No one had a problem with that at all and my cycle has been completely normal so far. In fact, one school actually recommended not sending one in and they were the first to admit me, so obviously it didn't matter (or they didn't catch them).
So yeah, unless it is HYS, you have nothing to worry about. You can either let it be or call/email admissions and ask if it is alright if you send in a revised copy. If you want to try and save some face, phrase it like you attached the unrevised version instead of the revised version in LSAC. That way it looks like you actually DID take the time to proofread, you are just attached the wrong file (which, IMO, isn't as bad as forgetting to proofread for typos).
