Biggest surprise of the cycle, so far?
What do y'all think has been the most surprising trend/occurence this cycle?
My vote goes to Columbia holding scores of applicants at or above both of their 75ths. Thoughts?

I think Cornell was way worse than Columbia in that regard

You're probably right...there were droves of confused (and worthy) applicants that got held or rejected at Cornell. I guess since they saw that 50% rise in applications, they figured it was time try to make a move within the T14.

I don't see all that many rejections from Cornell based on lsn.
I agree on Columbia though.

I think the increase in applications has been pretty surprising, even ITE. A lot of schools reporting more than a 60% increase.

Seriously, it was. I know that was a big factor for me.newyorker88 wrote:it was probably their free itunes lolwatwat wrote:Alabama stated they have had an application increase of 90% this year.traehekat wrote:I think the increase in applications has been pretty surprising, even ITE. $20 on iTunes, PLUS a fee waiver. All for just $12, and I don't even have to get accepted? The way to my heart is to dangle free stuff at me.
And, of course, it's a pretty good school.

Those of you saying the increase in apps:
Do you think the trend will hold for next year?
I was an applicant that held off in part because this looked like a murderous cycle and I had some good opportunities during the year. Right now I really have no idea if it'll get any better next cycle.

What about the people below their 75ths? Easier for them to get in?ali & ali wrote:What do y'all think has been the most surprising trend/occurence this cycle?
