Late T14 apps
Just scored a 172 on Feb. up from a 164-164. I applied to the schools ranked from 8-20 (with some exceptions) a few days after the Feb. administration because I knew I would finally hit my PT average. I asked them to hold the apps for this release, which they've done.
A few questions: First, would I ever be able to expect money from any of these places had I applied on time? I have a 3.52 LSDAS GPA. I know that schools usually spend their merit money early on in cycles. Does applying so late hurt my chances at $ from a school like BU, or have most schools given everything away already? Does applying so late significantly hurt my chances at gaining admission to MVP?
Second: my "dream" school would be NYU or Columbia, but I didn't apply because neither school accepts February LSATs. I know that I'm a long shot at either, but would EDing at one of those places VERY early next cycle significantly improve my odds of getting in? Also, what happens if I get accepted to, e.g., Cornell this cycle, decide to wait a year to apply again because I want to take a shot at NYU, don't get into NYU, and then apply to Cornell again. Will schools accept you two years in a row? Would I have to explain this to them?
Finally, do those LSAT scores deserve explanation? I have a great reason (working 100+ hour weeks) for them being low. Should I send an addendum with a LOCI or something, or just let them speak for themselves? The last score looks kind of fluky in light of the first 2, unfortunately, but I was PTing 174 and was just exhausted/stressed due to work for September/December. I just hope schools don't view that as a fluke (if they'd even care...).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

I'd probably wait. FWIW I'm 173/3.51 and got into NYU (and I'm currently on hold at Columbia). So you definitely have a shot at these schools. If that's where you want to go then I would definitely wait. As far as schools readmitting you - my understanding is that they will, but you may want to give them a new PS.
As far as an addendum: my understanding is that schools don't care if you were too busy working (or studying for UG classes, or partying, etc) to study for the LSAT. If your brother died the day before you took it (and you were stupid enough to take it and not cancel it) that would deserve an addendum, or if your proctor had played loud obnoxious music during your administration that would warrant one too. But yeah lack of study time = not good enough for an addendum.

I disagree about the addendum personally. ya, its quite possible that schools wont care, but Id still send one with your record. Even if they dont care whether you were working, or in UG, or partying, at least you can clear that up and let them know you were working, the best out of the three.Marisa5252 wrote:

If they dont care, fine, but I dont think it hurts to add it in. I put in this in an addendum and explained a little bit about the seasonal nature of my job too, making them think a bit more about my work experience maybe. It cant hurt.

Thanks. I think I will do this, if only because it gives them another glimpse into my WE. As far as waiting til next year for a NYC school, I guess I'll wait to see if I can sneak into Penn first. Really don't want to work another year if possible, and obviously don't want to get burned by NYU and Columbia next year after having waited a year for them as I would essentially be in the same exact boat as I am right now, minus 1 year.iShotFirst wrote:I disagree about the addendum personally. ya, its quite possible that schools wont care, but Id still send one with your record. Yeah, I would wait and see what happens this year before deciding on next year. Your numbers are borderline for NYU and low for Columbia, so it's quite possible that you don't get in even if you wait a year.lawschoollll wrote:Thanks. I am in a similar situation but I want to ask some school specifically Georgetown an UVA to hold my application until my June LSAt score, I've already written and addendum to all the schools that i've applied to and so far only one has said that they won't wait. Should I waste money on these two schools or just forget about them?

Law schools won't wait for June scores. At best, you'll get a WL and have a chance to get off the WL in late June.LongueFrappe wrote:I am in a similar situation but I want to ask some school specifically Georgetown and UVA to hold my application until my June LSAt score, I've already written and addendum to all the schools that i've applied to and so far only one has said that they won't wait. Re: Late T14 apps
That is exactly what I want. I already have an lsat score if it makes any difference and i've already went complete at higher ranked schools with an awesome lor from one of my professor. And I wrote an Addendum promising them 170+ in June.im_blue wrote:Law schools won't wait for June scores. Re: Late T14 apps
Is there a general consensus as to how bad the effects of a late app are? Like, -2 off your LSAT? If anyone's with me in the post-Feb. LSAT boat, let me know... curious to see what other peoples' plans are and how bad their cycles are.
