Temple VS St. John's
Which should I chose St. John's with a full tuition scholarship or Temple with 15k per year. I don't know where I want to practice but probably a big city.

Temple really is night and day better, in both educational quality and job placement.

Temple is in a bad part of town, but it's not like you live in the area. Most law students live in much safer areas. Also, Temple only has to compete with UPenn and Nova in Philly, while St. John's has many more "better" schools in their market.

I'm sure it's possible, but I think it'd probably be very difficult. New York is already saturated with its own law schools, and Temple is known as such a regional school. A big question would be why you went to Temple if you want to practice in New York.newyorker88 wrote:Thanks for the advice guys. Re: Temple VS St. John's
I'm not sure where I want to practice so I'm trying to go to a school that I'll give me some options. I know St.John's is strictly NY. But I'm from NY and temple seems to have a solid reputation here and I looked at Temple's OCI and saw a decent amount of NY firms so I was thinking with temple i'd have ny and philly as an option.manbearwig wrote:I'm sure it's possible, but I think it'd probably be very difficult. From what I understand, with family and friends who are either in law school or have recently graduated as long as you are in the top of your class at Temple you have solid shot at landing a job in New York, but you have to be in the top. I think that may go for most schools though.

Are there stipulations on your full-ride at St. John's? If so, I would think twice about that offer, as their grading curve is rather harsh.
If your heart is set on NYC only, you should really consider staying in the area for school. The competition in NYC is fierce and there are so many law schools there, most of which are better ranked than St. John's. Have you also considered Rutgers-Newark (if you got into those two schools, I imagine you have the #s for RN)?
I just visited Temple and I'm really fond of Philly and the school. It's much smaller than NY, but it's still a very large city with a lot of opportunities. There's a ton of diversity on many levels, too.
I've also visited St. John's and I wasn't impressed...
