On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
Looks like it's LOCI time, kinda proud I made it that far with no work experience outside undergrad (I'm graduating this year)
Oh well, the wait is on

Re: On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
yeah I really don't know, I'm going to have to give it some thought, but you're right, the optional essays (which I did) sure did provide a lot of opportunity to express additional interest. Hopefully we go the same route as that other TLS'er!

On hold today, via pdf file (via status checker via email)
I didn't even know this was a category until today. I think it's worse than being waitlisted.

Hold is better than a waitlist. Visit the school if at all feasible, write a LOCI- just do something to show your interest in the school.Kilpatrick wrote:On hold today, via pdf file (via status checker via email)I didn't even know this was a category until today. In this boat. I am cautiously optimistic about NW.

I'm in limbo. It's kinda' like being on hold, only not as cool. Did an on campus interview, but haven't heard a peep since late Jan when I went complete.

Re: On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
For anyone else who is still waiting on a hold app at NU, I looked at the NU admissions twitter account today and someone just asked about hold applications. The response is that it looks like we will be waiting another 2 or 3 weeks. So much for the early April deadline

I sent an additional LOR. I also wrote an email/LOR and sent an updated transcript. And I called. Nothing to do but wait now.

Re: On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
Yeah, I did more or less the same thing. However, I spoke with an adcoms dean at another school who said LORs are the least important part of the app. I'm guessing that's true for NU as well. I'm just frustrated that they've said, more than once, that they'd be sending out decisions on hold apps in early April and now it looks like maybe early May based on the NU admissons twitter thing.

Re: On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
I applied late and just got held as well. Probably going to stay on their list to keep my options open if I'm admitted. Sadly I went from being psyched about NU to not so much. I keep hearing how they lack a sense of cohesiveness in their student body. Mostly because of the older student body. Just not sure...

I'm don't think you can complain just yet if you applied late. If you have good numbers I bet you'll get in.maximus32 wrote:I applied late and just got held as well. ASW was great. Everyone was very nice.
Everyone should post their numbers to see how they fare.

Also on hold; 2.7 (engineering)/172, some work exp, interviewed, sent LOCI.
Guessing I'll be on the waitlist and won't get off.

Re: On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
I realize this is a long shot, but does anyone have an idea of how many people are on hold? I'm curious if anybody talked to an admissions person and got a rough number. Orginially, I thought there wouldn't be that many and that they WL most over hold. But more and more keep popping up.

Yea I did. WL->In seems to be the standard for sub 3.0 splitters. Though, if this cycle is more competitive you might get screwed.OG Loc wrote:Civil. Re: On Hold at NU...Anyone else?
I went to visit on a random day and the students seemed happy there for the most part. They are a little older, but from my perspective still pretty young (I am in my thirties). But they seemed pretty connected to each other and friendly to each other. And in the one class I sat in on, before class started one student welcomed me and all the others started chiming in with how much they love NU. So overall I got great vibe from the school. There are only three schools that felt that positive to me when I visited on random days - UVa, NU and Irvine.maximus32 wrote:I applied late and just got held as well. BTW 172/3.5 non-trad, strong work experience but not traditional work experience. Strong upward GPA trend.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
