Re: GPA addendum?
You have a shitty GPA and haven't taken the LSAT.
Yeah, definitely focus on the T14. Really, what could go wrong?
Addendums don't do anything positive for you, they just make your shitty GPA less the shitty than it would be if unexplained.
Crappy GPA + solid addendum = performing roughly at the level your LSAC GPA predicts.
Crappy GPA + poor or no addendum = under-performing at the level your LSAC GPA predicts.

Re: GPA addendum?
So what do I do?
I've been talking to some lawyers in the DC area and their recommendation seems to be to do a masters degree before applying just to prove that I can handle the work.
Since I can wait and I'm OK with the extra cost, do you think this would help?

You're stuck bro. Nothing you can do will change your undergraduate GPA. The ONLY thing you can do to help mitigate it is to rock the LSAT.
If you rock the LSAT, you may get in to some good schools.
If you fuck the LSAT up and only beat 95% of test takers instead of 99% of test takers, then you're fucked with respect to the top 14.
That's how it is. The answer to all of your questions is 'miss as few questions on the LSAT as possible'.

A graduate degree won't be considered in your LSAC GPA, so you will still have a bad GPA. Might as well work for 2-3 years to distance yourself and maybe try to make up for your low GPA with WE.

Which still won't do anything except move from 'auto-ding' at Northwestern to 'not aut-ding' at Northwestern.AsylumPB wrote:A graduate degree won't be considered in your LSAC GPA, so you will still have a bad GPA. Seriously, whatever the LSAC says your UGPA is + your LSAT score make up 95% of your application. Unless you're packing olympic medals, no amount of work experience/graduate programs/compelling life story will cause them to look past your LSAC UGPA and LSAT.
If your LSAC and UGPA combine to put you right on the cusp of the numbers a school usually takes, then great - all those experiences will matter. But if you miss by an LSAT point or two, you'd better be curing panda cancer while training for the biathlon.

Is your excuse an active social life or all that bad shit that happened to you or are you using those synonymously?

No no, it's the stuff that happened.
I just asked him about the active social life to see if the "write an addendum" was the standard answer for anyone with a shitty GPA.
