I've gotten a nice offer that I want to hold onto, but I'm still waiting on responses for the bulk of my apps. Unfortunately, I have send in my SIR pretty soon to be guaranteed housing.
I was wondering if anyone is aware of some system schools use to notify each other of having received an SIR. I don't want to get rejected / YP waitlisted from my remaining apps just for having put down a deposit.
Am I worrying for nothing?
Will sending an SIR affect your chances at other schools? Forum

Anyone?
Maybe I should have been explicit that SIR = Statement of Intent to Register?

First make sure it isn't binding. If it's not binding, then there's nothing to worry about. Schools know that seat deposits and such may need to be paid while waiting for word from other schools, and that you may later withdraw from that school.

+1 Cool. Thanks.hsprophet wrote:First make sure it isn't binding. If it's not binding, then there's nothing to worry about. Schools know that seat deposits and such may need to be paid while waiting for word from other schools, and that you may later withdraw from that school.
I just was wondering if they informally notify each other through backchannels. I wouldn't want them to think "this guy already has a place to go, so we don't really need to let him in."

I highly doubt they would communicate through back channels but I guess anything is possible.
