Depaul ($) vs. Loyola Chicago ($) vs. John Marshall ($$$$$)
I want to work in Chicago after law school. I am interested in IP but not really committed to it yet. I have been offered:
Loyola: $10,000/yr, must maintain 3.0
DePaul: $15,000/yr, must maintain 3.3
John Marshall: Full ride ($38,000/yr), must remain in top 33%
My question is, is John Marshall even worth considering in my situation? I feel silly asking and never thought I would even consider JM (I applied as a super safety), but now the idea of graduating with minimal debt is very appealing. BTW, I don't mean any offense; I know JM is a very solid school.
Also, does the extra money at DePaul make it worth picking them over Loyola? I know there is a lot of debate about whether DePaul or Loyola or Kent is the best non-T14 law school in Chicago.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

I would pick Loyola over DePaul (which used to be a T3 school a few years ago). It has the best scholarship requirements and is the best school of the 3. I wouldn't pick JM even with a guaranteed full ride.

IP in Chicago? Did you apply to Kent? If not do so right away as Kent is hands down far superior to any of those three (Dear God don't go to John Marshall) in terms of IP. In fact, Kent's IP programs rivals the tier 1 and the school is higher ranked overall. Great career aspects. Might see ya there.thinkbig wrote:I want to work in Chicago after law school. Hey guys, thanks for your responses. I applied to Kent almost 2 months ago and no word yet. Didn't get into UIUC (would've loved to go there since it is my undergrad alma mater). I'm keeping hope for Kent (and Northwestern if by some miracle). For IP, it sounds like Kent is the best and DePaul is good. Is Loyola's IP program anywhere on the map?
So you would definitely not go to JM, even with a full ride?

Loyola Chicago in a heartbeat. Have you been inside the DePaul law building? It's like a prison.

Ironically enough I felt that way about Loyola's law building: all the checkpoints, restrictions, and turnstiles were quite off putting to what I feel should be a more open atmosphere conducive to different people and ideas.scionb4 wrote:Loyola Chicago in a heartbeat.
