degree GPA vs. cum. GPA

Post by raperez129 » Mon Feb 15, 2010 5:23 pm

Both are on are listed on the report, but which one is the one that schools consider for admission purposes? When I do the "what are my chances" and I put in my GPA for statistical purposes, which one should I use? Mine differ by a full 0.13, so I've been going with the lower of the two, but I'm hoping for more optimisim considering I am terrified to receive my Feb 2010 LSAT score.

degree is your current (graduating) school's GPA

cumulative takes into account any other schools (post-HS) that you've been to, things like summer school

Cum. GPA is what matters.

Good Luck!

I think degree GPA is GPA in your degree (major) but it makes no differenсе sinse it's still largely irrelevent.

Degree GPA is for your graduating school, not your major. The most it will be (if it differs markedly from your cumulative) is a soft positive or negative factor. The cumulative is what gets reported to US News, and so it's the one that matters for almost every school.
