Was this my fatal sin?
When I was filling out law school apps, there were a few apps that told me when I entered text that would not be visible to people receiving the apps on the other end. I assumed that this was true for all apps, and I didn't worry about writing too much in the field of space if I wasn't warned when trying to save my changes to the app. This resulted in stuff biographical stuff like phone numbers and college majors getting cut off in many cases, looking like typos in some of my apps. Although I'm a 175+ 3.9+ with interesting, diverse softs (or at least I think so), I haven't heard from Columbia or UVa since November, and I think this might have quashed any shot I ever had at the black box known as Yale.
Could these apparent typos in the biographical portion of my apps be the cause of the icey silence I'm receiving from these schools?

Did you try writing the admissions offices and letting them know that you realized you mistake post-submitting?

I didn't...do you think this would help? It's been 3 months since I turned my apps in, and I was thinking it might be too late for something like that. Is something like that really enough to waitlist or ding someone?

lsac wont let you submit apps where you used too many characters. when you try to save the app you get an error if you went over... so i think you might be ok

Wait, so even if you can't see the letters in the PDF file (the application sent), the schools can still see them?pollaclc wrote:lsac wont let you submit apps where you used too many characters. when you try to save the app you get an error if you went over... so i think you might be ok

Go back into your LSAC account and view the complete submitted/transmitted app. It will be one pdf of all your materials, the app, personal statement, etc. That is exactly what the schools see. If there is any important information cut off, then I would let the school know.
This is the reason the system tells you multiple times to check and make sure the info is displayed properly.
Sometimes it will say there are too many characters in a blank and give an error, but everything actually shows up fine.

I have similar stats and didn't hear from UVa until like two weeks ago, and that was a WL email. Consider it a YP.

Part of my died (a little bit of my pride, I'll admit it).ughOSU wrote:Did you actually die from it?
I just don't understand why some applications stop you from entering too many characters and others don't. I did get a JR2, so I'm not super nervous about not getting accepted to Columbia, but I'm into int'l law, so I would love the option.
