LOR Question..

Post by rocker1487 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 9:39 pm

Hello TLSers,

Any idea if it's a bad idea to send more LOR's than required by the app? I have 3 amazing LOR's, and it's hard to narrow it down to the best 2 which is what is required on the app. However, LSAC says the school takes up to 3. I just don't want to look like a douche that can't follow directions.

It's fine, lots of applicants send in 3 LORs when only 2 are required. I would say sending 4 would look like you can't follow directions.

It depends on the school. Some don't allow you to attach more than 2. Usually, if you look at LSAC, it will tell you required number and max. If 3 exceeds the max, then save the third in case you get waitlisted. You could send it with your LOCI.

For most schools though, 3 is fine. I sent 3 to all that allowed it.

Feel free to send in more than required if the school allows it. However, if the school caps LORs, do not under any circumstances send more than the max amt.
