Ouch. Call and demand to be let in or you'll sue for emotional/mental abuse.gustrock wrote:Received an acceptance email from a school today, then an email directly below it saying that they had made a mistake and my deferred admission still stands. FML.

Write back telling them that you were so happy that you got the acceptance that you immediately told every other school that you're withdrawing. Even if the two emails are less than a minute apart.

If you complain enough, they might let you in. Couldn't hurt right?

Re: Mistake/FML
OW! Given they are deferring you and not rejecting you, if I were in the admissions office I would have made the argument to accept you over sending a correction. Of course, if they sent a batch of them out to a bunch of deffered candidates they might not have a choice but to send out a correction - but how painful is that?!

He mistakingly thought he was admitted for what, 20 seconds? If it was long enough to make potentially damaging decisions, like withdrawing from other schools, I could see why he would be more upset with the school.
