Impressive stats at UC Irvine

Post by SandyC877 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:30 pm

Last year and this year's numbers look really solid for a new school. These are peer numbers to UCLA and USC. Any chance this school will debut in the upper 20s once it is included in the rankings?

Those stats are not very significant. There are 10 green dots from last year and 12 this year. The inaugural class only had 60 students and we don't know who among those 10 or 12 declined the offer of admission. their Median LSAT – 167 and Median GPA – 3.61 looks good but that will be difficult for them to maintain as they admit more students. Of course there is always the slim chance that the school will not receive accreditation too. This would be a disaster for the students involved.

10 green dots representing 60 seems reasonable to me. Is full accreditation a realistic concern for UCI?

Nope.

It will be T30 eventually, depending on the extent and duration of the financial meltdown in Cali.

It remains to be seen how well they can actually get strong students to enroll this year, without full scholarships and the allure of being the first graduating class. They are definitely not UCLA/USC peers, not now and not for decades to come. But I could see them ranked in the top 30-50.

10 represents an unknown number of people who were accepted. 60 = the ones who actually attended.
