3.67 gpa 169 LSAT and Puerto Rican URM.What are my chances?

Post by silvertag15 » Sun Jan 31, 2010 2:22 am

I was curious about what everyone thought my chances would be for a T14. I have taken the LSAT and scored a 169 and by the time I apply, I will have a 3.67 gpa. It would obviously be higher if I waited until the end of December when I graduate...more like a 3.73 or 3.74. I am planning on applying for 2011. Should I wait to apply with the higher gpa, or apply for early admissions and hope that the 3.67 will be good enough? I am a Puerto Rican and have a lot extracurricular activities and some other average to decent softs. I know that my letters of rec are going to be really good as well. What do you think my chances would be at the following:

University of Chicago
NYU
Georgetown
Boston College
Duke
Boston U
Northwestern
UVA
University of Florida

Any advice would help alot. I appreciate the help.

In at most if not all of them, don't even bother with U of Florida, add Columbia and Harvard to your list. You should have $$$ at some schools. Enjoy what will be a great cycle.

I'd recommend applying sooner, there's usually a huge advantage to that.

yeah leave our UF and make sure you apply to HYS. you might as well see what you can get and with that triple stat combo you should be good to go!

Great job!

Oh wow...I wont lie. That would be a dream. I didnt think that I really had a chance at Harvard simply because I was below the median for both gpa and LSAT. I will definitely look into that. Thanks for the responses guys. I was freaking out about not getting in to anywhere great to be honest.

A good number of the people who get into Harvard below median are URMs. You are one. You have a real chance at getting in there.

It's not guaranteed, which is why you should also apply to the lower schoools mentioned, but don't go as low as U of Florida. Drop UF and the remaining schools are a good list. You can add any other T14s you'd consider attending, also (like Penn or Michigan).

Yeah...I see where you are coming from. I guess someone has to get in with those lower scores :D. I will have to expand my horizons. I had UF on my list because it is a lot closer to home for me (plus it is my safe right now). Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.
