The ABA Strikes Back at Criticism!!
Apparently, the ABA disagrees it has an obligation to curtail the opening of new law schools. It also claims they are working on "new questions" for schools to ask and ways to provide more accurate employment/salary data. While they do make some points, many questions remain unanswered. An interesting read, to say the least. From ATL:

They make a couple of good points, but it really pisses me off that the ABA says they will do nothing to stop any school from opening. When I look at Drexel being opened when Penn, Temple, Rutgers, Villanova are all nearby, I don't buy anything about needing more law schools to serve different communities.
Plus, allowing outsourcing of legal work to India is absolute shit, even if it is doc review.

This is the way of the new world. Any menial task that can be chopped up and partially shipped overseas where it can be done competently and for a fraction of the cost will most likely end up in India. Law students need to realize this and not think that if all else fails, they can at least have doc review for $18-20/hour, because there's someone else in the world just as smart (probably smarter, considering this type of law grad couldn't get a real job) will do it for far less.TipTravHoot wrote:

Really, there's very little legal work that couldn't be done overseas.

A magazine exerts more influence than the ABA... - so true. Sad shit but true.
