So, if I didn't get a package along with the acceptance letter, does that mean that I am pretty much out of running for merit aid? or is there a separate letter for it?

Depends on the school. Its pretty common to send out scholarship information a couple of weeks after acceptance info.

Some schools send offers with acceptance, some send it a couple weeks later, some make you wait until March and claim it's because they're waiting for your financial aid application first.
