Complete after deadline: too late for cornell? Forum

I submitted some apps last friday, and I now realize there's no way they go complete before a few 2/1 deadlines. Is there some leeway for being close, or am i pretty much completely fucked? 3.6/168

What's the reason they won't go complete? If it's missing transcripts/LORs then you're kinda screwed.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting "going complete." I submitted on Friday, and they requested a paper LSAC report today. The LSAC site says it takes 8-10 days for the paper report to arrive. The deadline is 7 days from now. I don't see how the report gets there, a person looks at it and my file and marks it as "complete" by 2/1. It's not missing anything.

Is the deadline for a completed application or just a submit by date? Some schools will state specifically that applications must be COMPLETED by so and so date. I've seen some schools say they only need to RECEIVE an application by so and so date. Even if the deadline is for a completed application I can't see them throwing out your app since you do have all of your materials.

Just call and ask just to be sure, heck they might cut you some slack if you do miss the deadline. Worth a shot.

There are people who've been stuck at "applied" at Cornell since early December... time must work differently in Ithaca.

Cornell says: To receive a decision by early April 2010, you must complete your application file by February 1, 2010.

That leaves a bit of ambiguity as to whether that means I must discharge my responsibilities by 2/1, or the application must have "gone complete."

FWIW Cornell sent me a fee waiver this week that explicitly waived the application deadline.
