Boston University - Do LORs really need to be from faculty? Forum

When I was applying, I looked at BU's checklist and it said letters needed to be from faculty. Is this true? I've been out of school for several years, but I'd be crushed if my application were a no-go. Any ideas?

you should try to get at least one. I sent two and only one was from faculty and I was accepted last cycle.

If you've been out for awhile and your numbers are good, i'm guessing you'll get accepted anyways.

For what it's worth, one of mine was, and one of mine wasn't (professional reference from my work experience).

They admitted me this cycle.

nope. i liked the school but retook the lsat and am reapplying.

Exactly how many years are you out of school? You get some leeway on faculty LORs if it's been several years, say 5+.

Neither of mine were from faculty. Been out of school more than 7 years.

No acceptance yet, but I applied mid-Dec.
