Interview request--What to expect?
A school that dosn't normally interview applicants requested an interview with me. On the one hand I am happy since it shows that they are obviously considering my application. On the other hand I am a bit nrvous as what to expect? Has anyone done this before?

I imagine an interview means you are right on the line for being accepted.

I'd rather not say as I don't want to out myself. I had an interview with GTown last year, though it was earlier in the cycle. I was a borderline applicant and a splitter. Ended up getting waitlisted and I withdrew when I got my Cornell acceptance. The interview was very general, straightforward, no hard questions. Seemed to be more focused on making sure I wasn't a psycho.

I got one of those back in October. In my case it was for UC Hasting. I do legal research and one of the professors did the same type of research so he asked admissions to call me up for an interview so he could see how much I knew. In my case he asked me questions about my research and what cases I was working on so he could see how useful I would be if I were to study under him. At the end of the interview he pretty much flat out told me I was going to be accepted and he wanted me to study under him. One of my friends got called up to another school and the interview was for a scholarship. Normally its for something good. Look at it this way, they are not going to waste the time talking to you if they have no intention of accepting you.

I guess that's right. I am just a little nervous since the school is one of my top choices and the interview is another chance for you to mess it up

Or a chance to really shine and show them that you should be a part of their class... Lots of people would pay money for such an opportunity in the faceless world of paper applications. Make the best of it.
