"Hey! A Fee Waiver!"...NOT!
Thank you, Penn State (the not-so-good one, no reason to get pissed UPenn folks) and George Washington University, for giving an applicant more hope than he needed. Do not bother sending me e-mails about speakers at your school (Penn) or talk about how great your law school and request me to confirm mailing information (GWU) if you aren't willing to give me a fee waiver.

Referring to Penn State as "Penn" is not a good idea. Trust me on this.billyez wrote:Thank you, Penn State and George Washington University, for giving an applicant more hope than he needed. You may notice that they are not the same thing, if you look closely enough.

GWU doesn't give merit-based fee waivers at all, unfortunately.

It's a common mistake. When my cycle began last year, I thought Penn was a public school like Penn State, just more of the state's flagship public school (kind of like how the University of Texas is the flagship public school for Texas). When I first realized that Penn is actually an Ivy I wentbillyez wrote:Knowledge gained and appreciated.

I told my mom I got a fee waiver to Penn...she's said, "Penn State!!". I said, "No, mom, the Univ. of Penn..). She let out a sad sigh....LOL She didn't even know the difference because we're west coast people!!! I love her to death.

They gave me one. I think there must be one person in the office who doesn't know that they're not supposed to give them out.Jockin Jay-Z wrote:+1.billyez wrote:Thank you, Penn State and George Washington University, for giving an applicant more hope than he needed. They gave me one two years ago... I wouldn't have applied otherwise.BaiAilian2013 wrote:They gave me one.
