Talking points for LORs from industry professionals

Post by SoCalKevin » Thu Jan 14, 2010 3:09 pm

Hi all-

My LORs will be from entertainment industry execs rather than professors, since I've been out of school and working for a long time now. Can anyone give me some direction on talking points for them?

Thanks...

I would ask them to mention specific things that you have done great (as opposed to just giving abstract/general compliments without any hard evidence to back it up). Maybe you can make a list of accomplishments to remind these execs before they write you the letter.

I had a couple of professional references, and both asked for a little help getting started. I gave them an outline with a little bit of structure guidance (start with intro/in what capacity they know you, etc.,) different qualities I possess that are relevant to law school, and specific instances where they worked with me and I demonstrated these qualities.
