SEO Interview Preparation
For those of you who have already gone through the SEO Corporate Law interview process, how would you suggest one prepare for this interview?

I do believe at least the NYC ones are with a panel...I'd be glad of any interview war stories too, though =) Have mine coming up in late Jan.

in undergrad i had to do 7 cubed and 16% of 160 in my head. i wouldn't put it past them to make you do something absurd like naming all of the supreme court justices.
in all seriousness, you'll need to know why seo (don't blow this one); why law school; since you'll undoubtedly say you want to do some kind of public interest work, why corporate law. also, you'll need lots of stories for those "tell me about a time when..." questions.

Haha thanks. Sounds standard. Why is it referred to as a stress interview, then?talibkweli wrote:TheSharklord wrote:I do believe at least the NYC ones are with a panel...I'd be glad of any interview war stories too, though =) Have mine coming up in late Jan.

Any other alums have any insight?

Re: SEO Interview Preparation
I interview on February 15, and I have to say I am EXTREMELY nervous. If someone would be so kind as to give me some idea on how this interview works; if it's really as scary as it sounds, or if I am making this more of a monster than it needs to be. I know I want to make an overall good impression, but I am so scared!

Re: SEO Interview Preparation
The SEO thread has tons of nuggets of good information. I think you should read that thread.
as for what the interview is like, I did the one in NYC. I didn't get the program but I think that's cause i screwed up my interview.
Here's how to do well.
Be calm. Seriously, they'll do things to make you nervous, such as throwing hypothetical situations at you which test some legal knowledge. I doubt they expect you to give a right answer, probably just want you to show poise and answer the question to the best of your abilities. My question was something like, if a partner came in and ask you...what would you do.
other things they do to throw you off, one person was typing the whole time, the other person looked disinterested and swirled around in his chair. They do these things purposefully to scare you.
Then they make you read a passage, while they stare at you hoping you'll read too quickly. I read it too quickly...basically RC failed it. Then they ask you questions about the article like, if you were a judge how would your rule etc. Seriously, read that thing SLOWLY. It's tough when you're nervous but treat it like the LSATs.
Finally make sure you talk about CORPORATE/BUSINESS RELATED LAW and Interests. I talked about public interest stuff and they grilled me on it for a while and asked me (in a rude manner) questions like why are you trying to work in a corporate firm if you want to do xyz public interest stuff. I told them my spiel about being able to do both which they like (don't disregard public interest, they are a public interest organization after all) but don't do what I did which was talk more about public interest and not enough about corporate stuff.
So yeah, I pretty much did everything wrong in the book so much so that even a good law school acceptance couldn't save me.
