Receiving a fee waiver after you apply
I applied to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and today I received a fee waiver from them. I called LSAC and they said I'd have to take it up with Pitt. Has this happened to anyone? What did you do? Is it tacky to call a school and ask to get the money back since you did receive a fee waiver, only it was after you already paid them? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The same happened to me in 6 schools, one of the downsides of applying early... Most schools, at least the ones that I know, would not reimburse the money after you pay. I have heard of a few schools that will give you the money back.ihopeihope wrote:I applied to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and today I received a fee waiver from them. Any idea as to a tactful way to ask?

This same thing happened to me. I sent each of the schools a note asking if they would reimburse my fee as I submitted a few days prior to receiving their fee waiver.
Notre Dame - Said they would send me a check to my permanent address after they received my completed application
WUSTL - Sent me a form to complete and then they will be mailing me a check
Depaul - Said they do not reimburse

Was your note via email or snail mail? Did you just say something like "I submitted my application to your school and a few days later received an application fee waiver. (Do you reimburse? )" thanks for the info.

Personally, I wouldn't ask. I dunno, I feel like it would have an effect on how adcomms are looking at my application or something. Even if it didn't, that would be the thought in my head. It would drive me crazy.

I replied to the fee waiver email. The ND and WUSTL individuals seemed very understanding as I told them I was trying to get my applications in as soon as I could after receiving my December LSATs.
Also, I am not to worried about the impression as I will also be applying for financial aid. Maybe they will take a more serious look at my situation knowing that I was looking to save the $60. Either way I have plenty of uses for the money right now instead of app fees.
