William & Mary optional essays...

Is it really necessary to write one of the optional essays? Will they REALLY make a difference? At this point, I've written so many 'why school x' and optional essays that if I can get away with writing one less I'd be psyched. For those admitted this cycle, did you write the optional essays?

It will only help you... unless you suck.
