recommendation letter - lost???! Forum

hey guys,

My professor who wrote a recommendation letter for me said she sent it on Dec 18th. The LSDAS hasn't notified me that they received it yet... How long do letter normally take to process? Is this normal or did the holidays maybe mess up the mail somehow??

Ask your prof to fax it if it is not too much of an inconvenience. It should get updated in probably 3-4 days.

Thanks. This might be a stupid question, but what number should I have them fax it to?

One of mine was sent around Dec 11 and it still hasn't been received by LSAC. I am HOPING there's a backlog at LSAC but if nothing happens this week I'll have to ask them to fax it. You can email LSAC for the fax number.

I've had a LOR sent out in mid-Dec and it still hasn't been processed. I wouldn't really be worried about it though. I figure that it'll be processed this week.

I had a letter sent out on Dec. 11 as well and has not yet been received. I hope theres a backlog and its not lost.

Weird-

My prof sent a rec out on the 11th and lsac processed it on the 28th or 29th....very random. Fax is infinitely quicker as I come to find out

Definitely fax it in. LORs DO get lost sometimes. It happened to me! I was timid, and waited to call and complain, which was stupid. By the time I resolved the issue, more than 8 weeks had passed since I sent the letter. If I could do it again, I would have faxed it in the first place. Good luck!

Great, thanks so much! If I have my prof fax the letter, do I need that barcode thingy that comes with the letter or should I have her write my LSAC account number on the letter...??

I'm just really irritated because this letter is the one thing holding up my app from being reviewed at some schools.

if you cant figure this out, you should re-think law school.

you need the barcode thingy.

you sent your letter in the middle of the holiday season, I'm not sure why you're surprised it wasn't processed quickly.
