Addendum for going to 3 different colleges?

Post by lemonpie » Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:42 am

I transferred twice during undergrad and I'm wondering if I should submit and addendum for going to 3 different colleges. I wonder if that will my application look bad.
Should I add an addendum?

Transferring schools alone shouldn't make you look bad. Transferring from a strong school to a weaker school and then seeing your GPA go up might look bad.

To be on the safe side, you should explain any detail that raises questions. If you put a positive spin on why you transferred, I think you'll be fine. Be sure to keep it short and to the point.

A single transfer is not at all uncommon, and should require no further explanation. Transferring twice though is quite a bit rarer, and does raise some questions. So an addendum explaining your motivation that doesn't bash any of the schools involved, but also doesn't make you out to be a prestige whore, is probably in order.
