Instrumental's post was too self aware. I'll go with this one as credited:

Intresting. hen you click on schools and look at the info on the school, what do they mean by the "national" or "regional" designation?

For example, Penn State Dickinson Law has a "national" designation. UTK and Georgia State, on the other hand, have a "regional" designation. They all have around the same ranking (GSU and Dickinson are tied for the exact same ranking). It's not like one is viewed as a LS that places nationally, and the other as one that places regionally. I don't get it?
? I have no idea what you're talking about.
Click on a school and read all of the info. It's right below public/private and year founded
Yeah this is really bizzare, most of the schools I'm looking at(state schools, TT's and TTT's) all have that National label. Yeah I'm curious about this.

Could it be that schools self-select? I don't think GSU spams across the US. Penn State though, ugh. Or maybe it's the students they attract.
The asst Dean of admissions at PSU Dickinson is a huge extrovert. Maybe that shows itself in the number of emails she sends out? Lol

The in-state tuition at UT is pretty sweet.
I paid like a third of that and I'm in a literal boatload of debt. LITERAL BUTTLOAD.

Also glad to see rpumpkin has finally been exposed as a FRAUD and a SHAM. Looks like the on topics will finally be free of his tyranny, mods willing.

It will be a shame if the mods ban me from the on-topics. My inside contacts at Vault are much more reliable, as you know. It seems wrong to deprive TLS'ers of my sneak peaks at the Vault rankings just because the USNWR/Spivey cabal pulled one over on me this time.

Out of curiosity why did you trust Boalt and GULC adcoms seeing as they had a clear incentive to lie to you?

All my family and friends were same, everyday people with no particular connection to "engineering," "law," "medicine," etc. The perception at the time on which schools were best for me to apply, irrespective of actual US news rankings (we weren't really aware of at the beginning) and after we realized I could get into the "good" schools instead of applying "local," was Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Berkeley. MIT and Princeton were also thrown in but obviously didn't apply. When I applied and told people where I was applying, they would almost always single out Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Berkeley. A few also were impressed by U of Chicago. I know this is hugely anecdotal, but I come from an "everyday" background if you will. And since going through law school, and meeting so many overly well off people, I can't stand when someone from a well off background who grew up through private schools, and knew everything law because they grew up expected and prepared to be some kind of professional, tries to, with a sense of "the world rotates around me," impute their very researched and unordinary understanding of the legal profession and schools to everyday people, like that guy above who, like those snobs we all met at one point, for some reason still cares about private versus public school distinction.
What ultimately led you to go to chicago, did you also get accepted into HYS?
No. Unfortunately I got dinged at HYS and Berkeley (some waitlisted before dinging). I got into a few other schools and eventually chose Chicago given where it is, where I wanted to practice, and how good it is.
Ultimately, are you happy with going to Chicago? I'm asking b/c it would be a top target of mine. I don't really want to think about HYS b/c 1) they're hard to get into 2) they're expensive and don't offer much scholarships.

Serious question, does the change in ranking make Harvard vs. Chicago a harder decision?

No, Harvard reputation is still way ahead of chicago, regardless of ranking.

Amazing, although it almost caused me to choke to death on my lunch.

I'd be surprised if pupkin hasn't already committed ritual seppuku for getting this year's rankings so embarrassingly wrong (if the USNWR people didn't get to him first), so I doubt he's going to respond.
