Yeah, they send tons of those out ever year. And to think: part of your tuition for Alabama Law is going directly to allow people who would never even think of going to your school to buy song downloads.rx3r wrote:University of Alabama - fee waiver plus 20 iTunes downloads. How crazy is that?

Me thinks I would like the Alabama fee waiver. Wonder if I could tell them I got a waiver from Georgia just to see if they'd be willing to 1-up them.

Yeah, I know. The funny thing is, this kind of makes me want to apply...bluejayk wrote:What?? That's crazy. Congrats though, enjoy your downloads!rx3r wrote:University of Alabama - fee waiver plus 20 iTunes downloads. How crazy is that?
Here's the letter:
Admit it, you’re an outstanding student! You’re well aware that academic success requires work. Often difficult and sometimes thankless work. Isn’t it time your hard work earned you a few perks?
With this in mind, we encourage you to consider The University of Alabama School of Law. In return, we’re making you an exclusive offer.
If you apply, we’ll:
1. Waive your application fee, and
2. Present you with 20 free music downloads on iTunes®
Don’t wait! The Admissions Committee is presently reviewing completed applications.
I kind of see it as getting paid $8 ($20-12) to hand them a YP reject for their stats.

I'm not applying purely out of principle. Screw you, Alabama.

Lol. I'm sure I won't apply out of laziness rather than principle. But good for you, sir.Helmholtz wrote:I'm not applying purely out of principle. Screw you, Alabama.

I cannot believe that in addition to waiving the app fee they are giving me free music. I feel cheap and dirty

In spite of Penn's promise that people with merit-based waivers would receive e-mails by Oct. 1st, which I have not and do not expect to in the next 70 minutes, I logged in today and I do have a CRS waiver. Hooray.

Are you people serious? The $15 LSAC fee and the hour or however long you spend filling out the app are worth the $20 in song downloads?GargamelITT wrote:i'm shamelessly applying to alabama

Since most people would instead spend that hour spazzing out on TLS, the opportunity costs aren't exactly high.GeePee wrote:Are you people serious? Add me to the list of people exploiting this fee waiver.GargamelITT wrote:it's $12, andGeePee wrote:Are you people serious? The $15 LSAC fee and the hour or however long you spend filling out the app are worth the $20 in song downloads?GargamelITT wrote:i'm shamelessly applying to alabama

After your first app, it should not take you an hour to fill out an app. All you have to do is read through the app, make sure the Common information is correct, click a few boxes in the right place, then attach the same documents you used for all your other apps. Takes me like 10 mins to go through an app. If it is a school I care about, I will of course take longer and do extra items, but if it is a safety or giving out free music then not to worried about the "Why X....?" parts of the app.
Edit: I would love to see at the end of this cycle all the rejects in the top right corner of the law school numbers chart for Alabama.

Re: 2009-2010 Fee Waiver Tracker Thread
FYI for anyone who cares, I contacted USC again about a fee waiver and they send me a rather curt email saying that they use CRS and implying that I will know if I get one through there. I'm so annoyed- UCLA sent me one, and they're a better school...now I REALLY don't wanna pay that $70!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
