Georgetown probably could have kept the 168 with a lower GPA. However, I'm sure in order to maintain their usual 580 class size they decided they would lower their median by one. Last year they kept their 168 but with 540 people, they didn't like the total amount of people slipping.

Let's aim for no mistakes with this year's data so next year we'll be perfect.
ETA: And let's be honest: TLS is very Tier 1-centric so as long as the spreadsheet is accurate there, it serves its purpose for the vast majority of people who would want to consult it.

Eh - macro data of number of matriculants and stuff is relevant too, as well as +/- of students year over year to determine which schools to bash.Dirigo wrote:Sometimes it's best/easiest to just move on.should-i-do-it wrote:Spreadsheet still has mistakes for 2016 data

If it makes you happier, I'd be more than willing to stop updating any part of the spreadsheet.should-i-do-it wrote:Spreadsheet still has mistakes for 2016 data

Re: C/O 2017 Median LSAT/GPA/Class Size (New Stats!!!)
i don't see why it would
it's not like gulc has changed so dramatically the past year
it's still seen as a somewhat preftigious school and the reputation scores matter in the rankings
plus they'd be breaking some pretty serious precedent
also it's not even ranked 14th this year

Re: C/O 2017 Median LSAT/GPA/Class Size (New Stats!!!)
Georgetown won't drop out of the T14 because
1. It still has rock solid medians, despite it's drop in LSAT this year.
2. It receives really high scores in Peer Reputation every year.
Reason n.2 is why Cornell has been ahead of UCLA, Vandy and UT even though its admission standards are about the same as those schools. Georgetown will likely remain in the T14 for the foreseeable future for the same reason; however, if its medians continue to drop (a likely result if Georgetown's policy on scholarships remains the same), I could see it slowly sliding down in the rankings in about 5/10 years time.

What I meant is that even though their medians have been dropping, they're still very relatively very good. Sorry for the confusion.

I agree with most of this, but I think the bolded is more because Cornell is in NY and is filled with people headed to NYC.runinthefront wrote:I don't think Georgetown's medians have anything to do with its TTT status, though.billydaduck wrote:GeorgeTTTown confirmed.
Its headed to a 165 median in two years tops.
Cornell's median's are always lower than the rest of the T14, yet their BL+FC stats outpace most of the lower half of the T14.
I think their class size is more indicative of their decline
how the fuck do they expect to place 580 grads in decent jobs? How?
If Cornell had those same medians, but was located in Kansas or something, It would probably be placing only half of its current number into Biglaw.
As far as GULC is concerned, the DC biglaw market isn't that big compared to NYC. I mean, there's an insane amount of lawyers in DC, but I feel like that's a place you go after you have experience and connections...not before. Either that, or obviously FedGov or PI.

Re: C/O 2017 Median LSAT/GPA/Class Size (New Stats!!!)
It's still got a decent buffer against #15 for this year, but it has put some distance between itself and the rest of the T14 in raw US News score. If medians continue to decline and employment does not pick up, we might see Texas or Vandy take that spot.Gucci Mane wrote:Odds that Georgetown drops out of the USNWR top 14 this year?
Edit: I guess Cornell joined them this year.
GTown and Cornell's raw scores are 76 this year. NW is 79 and Texas is 73. UCLA and Vandy are 72.
I don't know how much a 1-point LSAT median drop is going to cost in raw score this year. 1 point? 2? Texas was tied with GTown not too long ago, so it could happen. Some statistical noise in the peer/practicing survey results could conceivably break up the T14 fairly soon.

You have to go to the US News website and hover your mouse over the numeral of the law school's rank in the main list.Brut wrote:where do you find the raw numbers j?

So is the reputation score all that's keeping gtown afloat? Their numbers are getting lower, employment is worse than the other t14s, they don't have a big endowment to throw money around with. Am I missing something?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
