I'm just waiting on Chicago. Planning on waiting until a week or two after the October results are out.Clemson772 wrote:For those of you waiting on waivers, do you plan to wait it out or just take the financial hit? Also, if you do plan on waiting it out, do you have a deadline set where you're going to submit regardless of waiver status?
FYI...my deadline is a week before October scores come out.

I got a this email yesterday based on last October's LSAT (169).redsoxfan1989 wrote:This seems doubtful to me. To what extent do people think fee waivers are actually indicative of one's likelihood of admission this cycle?

I don't think fee waivers give much of an indication of whether or not you'll get in. The schools just want to get the attention of students with scores that would be competitive with their other applicants.

USC replied to my request and said they'll be sending a batch out at the end of this week based on stats.

They are also frequently given out to non-competitive applicants to improve selectivity. Though you should be able to pretty easily tell when this happens.lastsamurai wrote:I don't think fee waivers give much of an indication of whether or not you'll get in. Well that sucks. Kind of a harsh thing to do. I understand the reality of schools needing to care about numbers, but that just seems unnecessary.ImNoScar wrote:They are also frequently given out to non-competitive applicants to improve selectivity. Got the Columbia waiver with a 169 lsat. I just found it a little odd that the email specifically mentioned that it doesn't necessarily indicate they would take favorable action on my app because Columbia considers many factors other than lsat score. Since I would assume that my lsat score would be the main reason I wouldn't get in to Columbia, rather than any other factors?

I got a Columbia waiver with a 165. I'm a URM though...that probably helped. I still don't understand how that all works

I'm sure you'll end up getting some more love. Jealous of those stats. Well, I guess even in the worst case scenario with fee waivers you'll be vindicated when you have your pick of HYS with scholarships...Instinctive wrote:Got a Penn one yesterday.

Same. They told me to request it when they application opened, except it had already opened, so it seemed like they were just sending that response to everyone. I haven't re-requested.lawbeahs wrote:Anyone had any luck with BC? I requested, was told to re-request later in Sep., then re-requested when the app opened, and I havn't heard anything back.
Edit: Pepperdine unsolicited waiver.

Not fee waiver related but:
Did anyone else get an email from Yale today about an admissions webinar? It was targeted at my UG and another school near my UG. I haven't heard of Yale doing anything like this before, was curious if they did this for other UGs too. Why Yale would need/want to host an online event like this?
"Yale Law School welcomes the opportunity to speak with you regarding your plans for pursuing your legal education. Please join us for a video webinar with other prospective law school applicants from _____________ (UG here). Sue Paik, Director of Recruitment, will be on hand to answer your questions about legal education, the application process, and life at Yale Law School..."

Yale has always done that. It's cheaper than the alternative of sending admissions officers to visit undergrads and convince students to apply, which is a regular part of admissions. They still do some visits though. Their schedule is here: http://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/recruiting.htmemmybee wrote:Not fee waiver related but:

And Yale may be Yale, but they'd still like as many apps as possible. I remember before the deadline last cycle, they e-mailed a bunch of people through CRS, reminding them of the deadline and encouraging them to apply.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
