So far, I've gotten waivers from CCNP&V, but no UMich, Duke, Cornell, G-town. In my opinion this is pretty dumb of the lower t-14 schools. If Columbia wants me to apply, why not Cornell? I doubt these waivers really "cost" the schools much.

I understand. But at the end of the day, it's a marketing ploy to get their apps up. I don't really need Columbia to convince me to apply. Duke, on the other hand...

If you need to be convinced to apply, then maybe don't apply...

As someone else has mentioned, these app fees really do add up! What if you're applying to all of the T-14?? Ack. I heard HBS makes $2.1 million on app fees alone (believable!?). I wonder how much law schools pull in?

Surely not on law school app fees alone.

Surprised by this, honestly. I received one, but I'm only at 168/3.6. I'm not entirely sure why I'm on their radar - frankly, I hadn't looked at anything above the bottom half of the T14 as reaches (except Harvard because I gotta throw that Hail Mary), but I'm definitely checking out Columbia now.

ETA: I know that fee waivers and "letters of encouragement" don't mean anything, but if I'm not forking over $100 to apply to a school I likely won't get into but have some small chance of admittance, I might as well go ahead and do it.

Got the Columbia email. Best part about it was them saying congratulations for being done with the LSAT, even though I'm currently freaking out about my retake in 2 weeks.

I didn't get the Columbia e-mail and haven't checked for a hidden waiver so I don't think it's just numbers-based.

Also got a Columbia email. Interesting how it very specifically outlined it was based on my LSAT only.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
