For sure. I totally understand, and I might actually take the cycle off if I were you too (given Your HYS-type numbers)james.bungles wrote:yeah its not that I have bad options this cycle, but I feel like being K-JD (and applying at deadlines/using Feb take) really hurt my apps, and apparently hurts in OCI too. Since I'm graduating in three years I feel like taking a year off from school is what I should be doing, so barring big money at CCNP (or S) I think it might be worth it to reapply.jk148706 wrote:W a Dillard? Might be checking in as well. Slowly withdrawing from schools. I've spent the last few years gearing up for law school, but I'm not sure if it's the right decision for me anymore. We shall see. Maybe it's time to apply for jobs. Who knows. As they say, #YOLO.

Are there any data out there on falling enrollment for the upcoming class? Is counting on having at least the same or better options next year with the same score a reasonable assumption?

I was on the fence in 09 when I was going to apply and decided to opt out. It was the best decision I made for my career and my life.
Good luck to everyone and continue following your intuition!!!

Re: Saying "No" to this Cycle: Collected Stories
I thought February was the first time that the number of test takers had increased year-over-year in a few years. Is this really enough to suggest a stabilization in the number of matriculants?
I'd postulate that because a Feb test is usually late for admissions/scholarships that the average quality of student in that administration is worse than Jun/Oct/Dec, signifying that they are not really the main competition for TLS readers. Of course, solid students retaking may have taken Feb, but more retakes obviously doesn't translate into more or stabilizing matriculants.
Edit: I would especially like to hear from Paul Campos, Dean Perez, or other insider sources if possible.

It'll be interesting to see if the drop in applicants is spread through all score ranges or only at the high/medium/low levels.

Re: Saying "No" to this Cycle: Collected Stories
good morning, friends!
this weekend, i was struggling with the idea of deferring for a year, but I eventually came back to my original conclusion that I'll need at least two years to make all this worth it (time to find a new job, potentially retake LSAT, chill the eff out for a while/travel a little, etc.)
officially withdrawing from my last 3 schools today
also really interested to see how the next cycle goes in terms of # of lsat takers and applicants.

But pretty worried about the competition next circle. Is it really the case that more and more people are getting 170+ and 172 will become the new 170 in the next circle?
Circle?

Re: Saying "No" to this Cycle: Collected Stories
Since when is that true? I have continually heard the opposite. A 170 will always be a great score that will unlock many doors. I wouldn't worry too much. No one will know what next cycle will bring.Catherinelo365 wrote:Checking here as well.

Re: Saying "No" to this Cycle: Collected Stories
Given the continuous deluge of TTT applicants, I wouldn't be too worried about an increasing proportion of 170s+. There are not enough seats at the T14 to absorb every 170+, and there has always been a paucity of URMs scoring 160+, so a 170 should be pretty safe, at least for admissions (perhaps not $). Although I am not basing this on anything scientific, I would imagine non-T14 top regional schools will face greater number declines than the T14. Obviously TTT schools will face the worst declines, but who really gives a fuck about their welfare?

Re: Saying "No" to this Cycle: Collected Stories
The february increase was tiny. I would be surprised if we see a notabale increase in applicants - though stablization seems possible. At the same time a number of law school deans thought we were looking at stabilization after the June 2013 LSAT and that obviously turned out to be false.n1o2c3a4c5h6e7t wrote:I thought February was the first time that the number of test takers had increased year-over-year in a few years. sent thoughtful withdrawal email to school x yesterday (CCN) stating I will not be starting law school this fall but hope to reapply in the next couple of years.
received email back today asking which school I've chosen.
