I officially hate it. What's the point of it looking snazzy when it can't even load the freakin' home page?

+1. The main issue would be gathering the data.onionz wrote:Anyone else think it's time for a new entry into the field? It's not really that hard to make a website that points to a MySQL database and graphs some dots on a chart.
le sigh.

LOVED that scene. Love Phil. Literally bursted out laughing and roommates looked at me like I was insane.superdingle2000 wrote:potterpirate04 wrote:I went to the site a little while back and had no idea about the reboot. Damn, kind of sad to see the old one go, though it was really old. I programmed and designed that version during the summer of 2008, right before I started law school.
We'll see how this one goes. The biggest thing about LSN before I re-did it in 2008 was that it was super freakin slow. I hope this one doesn't have the same problems. The biggest thing that bothers me about the new one would be the grossly misleading employment data it uses.

Who runs it now? I guess they're not on TLS.jenesaislaw wrote:Damn, kind of sad to see the old one go, though it was really old. I programmed and designed that version during the summer of 2008, right before I started law school.

I never ran it, just loved using it during my cycle and wanted to make it better.Crowing wrote:Who runs it now? Last I talked to one of the original people (Anthony Ciolli), somebody bought him out. I think that somebody bought out Jared Cohen too.

It's interesting how the new school graphs extend the LSAT axis all the way to 182.

Couldn't we just mine the data and put it in a new database? I didn't sign away any of the data to lsn when I registered an account. I see no privacy policy or terms of service anywhere...run26.2 wrote:+1. The main issue would be gathering the data.onionz wrote:Anyone else think it's time for a new entry into the field? Re: LSN Reboot in T minus..
Only concern is users from the current cycle would probably have to create new accounts in order to be able to update them. if you just ported over all the current accounts and people made new ones, that could skew the accuracy of the data. wrt past cycles, seems like data mining wouldn't be an issuerun26.2 wrote:It's possible to do, yes.onionz wrote:Couldn't we just mine the data and put it in a new database? But hopefully this is all premature. I'm sure LSN will get its shit together soon

Yeah. The second issue would be adoption by users. But if LSN does not become faster, that might not be a very high hurdle.jym_dawg wrote: Only concern is users from the current cycle would probably have to create new accounts in order to be able to update them. if you just ported over all the current accounts and people made new ones, that could skew the accuracy of the data. wrt past cycles, seems like data mining wouldn't be an issue

I do hope they simply work the kinks out.

Meh, the ignorance in their new admissions articles makes me question whoever is running the site now.

Who wants to donate money to LST so that we can acquire LSN and make it better?

It keeps fucking up my dates now. I input a completion date and it reverses the day/month and deletes previous listed dates. So frustrating.

Re: LSN Reboot in T minus..
On the bright side, speed seems to have recovered.
This has happened to countless websites in the past. They have a functional but ugly site, they become convinced that they NEED to have a snazzy web 2.0 page and they fuck up all the functionality in the process. Hopefully LSN can recover before they lose all their users a la Digg 4.
