ASWs are for future law students and it's not going to be geared towards a family experience. I almost guarantee that you would regret bringing your parents along to an ASW, no question.

side note: have any of you guys been to an ASW or at least a part of one?

Yup. The one I went to I'd say about half the people came with their parents.

Do you mind saying which school? I honestly before seeing this topic never even thought about it. I saw that I was going, my parents were free and I figured why not

This past weekend at UF's ASD nearly half, if not more, of the prospective students had their parents with them. I was especially embarrassed for these students and found it really awkward. The worst part, to me, was when we separated into smaller groups. The parents tagged along and the 'discussions' were painfully silent. I feel that when a student has their parent with them, other students are very much less likely to converse and engage with them. So when many students have their parents with them, there is nearly no communication amongst the students. I was also really turned off by the parents who asked embarrassingly simple questions and stole time away from other students. Overall, I feel that bringing your parent to an admitted student day is a bad choice. Not to mention that it lessens the experience for other prospectives. A portion of the value of the ASD is getting a feel for the dynamics of what a room full of your potential classmates would be like. This is nearly impossible with the addition of parents. I certainly think that your family should play a role in your decision, however, and would argue that a campus tour/visit would be much better for them to gather an opinion about the school.
