this years fee waiver thread is weak. last years thread hit 29 pages a whole month before this one did. maybe because I was OP ;)

Hey guys,

I've heard that if you qualify for a need-based fee waiver with LSAC, some schools auto-waive your application fee.

Is this true? If so, when exactly do they waive it?

Is it a once i submit the app it'll be waived kinda thing or do I still have to contact the school?

Some you will have to contact, others seem automatic. It will show you when you open an active application what the app fee and CRS report fees will be for that application. When you complete it, before you submit it will tell you what it costs.

I solicited waivers from Michigan, UVA, Georgetown, and Duke and got one from each. I got unsolicited waivers from Washington & Lee, Iowa, Washington St. Louis (with free hotel if I visit), and Alabama (with $30 iTunes gift card).

Who did you email at Duke? When I emailed the admissions office they said they were forwarding my request to the director of admissions and to wait several business days for a decision. Still haven't heard back from them

Is there like a list of schools known to auto fee-waive? I want to know because I feel like it'd be a pain/waste to email every single school I'm applying about one, when I could just email 3-4 schools specifically about it.

I know I can check, but that would involve me actually having completed the applications, correct?
