Would've loved to have been a fly on the wall while admissions officers discussed why someone who got a 151 deserved admission to UChi.

Daily reminder: Life isn't fair.
Not surprised, ever since Yale admitted a 154.

I'm seeing 152 on that page.

What do we think that is? Just cronyism/legacy, like the kid that got into UT with a 128? I can't imagine the justification that leads to accepting that person and rejecting 3.9/175 HYP students by the dozens. Like I said, to be a fly on the wall...

If I were Asha, I would take every application below, say, 165, and just throw them in the garbage. I don't care if you're Mother Teresa, I'm not accepting you.

At least a 151 is above the average, albeit not by much. A sub-3.0 has got to be considerably lower than average and relatively farther from their near perfect GPA median.

^^ Since when has Yale sought average applicants?
LSAT is the standardized measure of your abilities to succeed in law school. When 50,000ish people score above you on a standardized test in a given cycle, it seems remarkably unfair to take the 151 scorer.

Yale deserves to be selective, and I don't have a problem with them accepting a 166 with awesome softs and potential over a 175. The percentile difference isn't that great in the scheme of things. But a 151? Geez. It must be nice to be born into a life of privilege.

As someone said earlier, life isn't fair. Whatever.

Edit: Mixed up that the 151 was for Chicago and the 154 was for Yale. My point is unchanged though.

I'm sure there's a story there. It very well could be a senator's kid or whatever, but i'm sure they only did so poorly on the lsat cause they were too busy curing cancer to study or something.

It just bothers me because it indicates--to me at least--a sense of entitlement. 151 is a diagnostic-type score. That person really couldn't put in any more effort?

Maybe there's a medical condition that couldn't possibly be accommodated, but I'm stumped on that one.

Oh well. Good for that person. I'm just envious, obviously. :P

Median GPA of all applicants is like a 3.35 or something. But the LSAT has way more of an effect than GPA. There are thousands and thousands of applicants with 4.0 or close, but maybe 600 or so with 175+.

It's way, way easier to get into a T14 with a 3.0 than to get in with a 151.

Almost definitely a disability that LSAT won't accommodate.

In fact, there's a TLSer who got into Y with an LSAT well below the 25th last cycle ... he also had a Rhodes and documentation suggesting the above.

Basen on my observation Georgetown had a ton of waitlist movement, maybe the only t-14 school that had a lot. I think they may have well gone down.

I guess we'll never know.

Edit: I'd also like to thank rebexness for the spreadsheet update! It's coming in very nicely.

Spreadsheet has a lot of mistakes in 2016 data
WVU entering class last year was 118 not 195

If we're making corrections: (just checked the 509)
Rutgers Newark last year was 154-157-159
3.01, 3.34, 3.54

Total class size last year was 193. Fulltime was 149.
This year the total is 190. Fulltime is 148. We should probably be consistent with whatever numbers we choose to put for class sizes. I know the stats from the 509 I posted above combine both.

Would love to hear the story. There was a 3.13 admitted last year. He had a 177, baller softs, some absolutely ridiculous story for an atrocious freshman year and 3.8+ the rest of the way.

Can't think of a seriously detrimental disability that LSAT wouldn't accommodate that wouldn't present a major impediment to being a successful attorney. Unless it was something liked "I suffered a concussion an hour before the test." But even if it's along those lines, I'd tell homie to retake before I admitted him.

Down 26 students (last year's class was 221 students. Minnesota has been hit pretty badly by the applicant drop: 3 point median LSAT drop between the 2013 and 14 cycles, and a 10+% class size drop this cycle.
