Why would a drop like that happen? That is extreme.

They decided to pump up the GPA median by lowering the LSAT floor. Of those 217 students 109 are at or above the LSAT median and then things likely just drop off a cliff. I'll give them some credit for not having a 75th percentile that's identical to the median.

Solid hold.

Charleston Law

FT
144/148/152
2.63/3.03/3.31
145 Enrolled

PT
143/145/151
2.41/2.68/3.37
21 Enrolled

They didn't provide combined numbers, but it sure is down a lot from their 150 median last year!!!

New England Law

146/150/152 (+1/+1/-1)
2.86/3.15/3.44 (+.11/+.11/+.11)
267 Enrolled (+29)

WTF?? A TTTT gaining students and increasing their median. I had to double check last year's 509 to make sure the spreadsheet wasn't screwed up.

the class sizes/medians just seem super weird all around, considering the drop in applications and LSAT takers

From their class profile page:

"Entry to New England Law/Boston is competitive and we turn down many applicants"

Yes, in 2013 they turned down 300 applicants out of 2100.

2 years ago they had a class of 450.

Keep in mind that a crucial variable in all this which isn't yet measurable is the level of tuition discounting various schools are engaging in. This will be clarified when the 509s get released.

Also as the previous post ITT points out it's important to compare class sizes to historical baselines, rather than to 2013 alone. For example NEL usually has a class of close to 400, so the 2014 class still represents a masssive reduction in terms of their norms.

When do those sweet 509s get released?

Definitely not this month. Schools have a month or so before they need to report. Last year the deadline was October 5th, I believe.

According to my CrimLaw professor, the class info being circulated to the professors indicated that Michigan held its 168. He sounded uncertain about the GPA median, but thought it was a 3.70 even.

I also think a lot of schools that hadn't before are getting more efficient at median-gaming. The ones that hadn't been doing it before are now doing so 100% out of desperation.

166, 3.62 now backoff!

Held LSAT median and not that big off a drop with the GPA. Still no class size though. Good job.
