4.3 here, just got my last LOR for Columbia processed by LSAC today. Only took four months for my writer to do it.

But on the LSAC report to Columbia my index is 3.7



Update: I just realized that different schools have different indices. And my columbia one is indeed 4.5

Whatever is on the LSAC page should match the index formula. However, the LSAC page is correct.

The 3.7 is probably from your Stanford index or something like that, not for Columbia.

There's a couple 4.2s on LSN who got in this cycle as EDs. Why do you say it's much more competitive than last cycle?

I was referring to a poster who got flat out rejected with a 170/3.7 ish. Maybe it's not more competitive, but that one made me nervous.

Don't stress, but I was a 4.4 and rode the WL until two weeks before the start date. Oh, and LS is boring as shit and an utter waste of time (minus the paycheck, 4weeks vacation, bomb sports tixs, and golf memberships of course). SO, take the money and go to a good school that you'll be happy living at, because intellectually this is not enjoyable. It’s only a means to an end. Perk of Columbia is I have mad firm interviews during the worst recession in a minute. But all they money I piss away paying sticker more than cancels it out. Worst part is everyone with my numbers accepted on time got money. At least the folks are footing the bill, and they are quite happy that I chose CLS, but as a cost benefit guy it really kills me. O well, can't do anything about it now, but this board makes it seem like CLS is a non brainer over money at mich, duke, UVA, Cornell. Today I take half at any and run at any of um. UNLESS OF course you have to work at a top 10 firm in NY, then go to CLS…drink all the time, make B’s w/o doing a damn thing, and you’re good to go. I picked an appropriate name, no?? Best of luck…getting that call from CLS was a really good moment, enjoy it b/c it’s all downhill.

Thanks for the tips on idex calculation, I'm a 4.3, heavy on the LSAT. it's the highest ranked school I applied to, so I'm not too hopeful, but who knows?

This reminds me of the applicants in the "What are my chances?" forum who insist that, although they haven't taken the LSAT yet, they estimate the 173-177 range.

I realize it's totally ridiculous for me to assume I could *probably* get in with both a GPA and LSAT at CLS's 75ths, but I guess I'm just silly that way.

Doesn't change the fact that the place is a dump.
