I was a paralegal. I'm not going to tell you exactly where I worked but I got it by applying with decent grades and a good school. FWIW, I majored in liberal arts.RZ5646 wrote:Can I ask what job you have and what background let you get it?
And I get your advice. I don't agree that I should still take time off if I get a good law school offer, but I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world if I need to reapply. I accept that I could find employment above the fast food level if I looked hard enough, and I'm not going to take the first LS offer I get out of fear of unemployment. So I guess we'll meet in the middle regarding that.

So what are law schools looking for in your opinion? Applying next cycle, would love to learn from your experiencesims1 wrote:http://lawschoolnumbers.com/sims1
In hindsight, I wish I had the opportunity to go back and do my interviews/PS over again as I have since learned a lot about what law schools are looking for from when I started applying in the Fall.

https://careers.epic.com/ These guys hire anyone. All you have to do is show aptitude, and with your gpa that should be easy.
Also look into publishers like Pearson and McGraw Hill. Even in the science departments the editors tend to have non-relevant degrees.
There are definitely jobs out there, even if the market appears rough. Worst comes to worst, go teach in Korea for a year, make mad bank, and have a different experience.

Re: Softs, HYS, and scholarships
I don't have 'very high stats' by forum standards, but I am above every GPA 75th and have a 99th percentile LSAT. I got shut out of HYS and Columbia, and got relatively low offers from two of the three schools that I got accepted by.
I applied as a K-JD from a solid but unspectacular UG and didn't have any standout softs. I had two interviews and in my opinion did well with a school I got into and simply okay with a school I did not get into. Basically, I brought solid numbers but there was nothing too interesting about me.
Also, I had an LSN account but stopped updating it when I got disheartened. I imagine that there are many people who do the same, hence an unrepresentative sample on LSN.
