Haha more like second semester pchem.

LSAT will determine it then. I plan on rocking that son of a bitch.

Are you magically waving a wand and pulling these numbers out of your ass?

I graduated from Caltech in 2011 with a 3.0. The average department GPA is 2.75.

Last time: drop this subject, Sam (and everyone else), or get banned (again).

@anonymouse - Hopping off the subject, just wanted to respond to the "magic wand/ass" bit

Here's the MIT Student Life page I got it from (note: not my ass): studentlife.mit.edu/spring-2012-semester-gpa Now, go see if your Caltech-educated self can learn to quote properly.

You mean ~45%?

How come the guy who went to Oklahoma displays such better logic and grammar than you do?

Woah, this topic is way out of hand!

Anyways, I thought about what people have said and decided to retake the LSAT in September.

A few days ago I did a random LSAT practice test and got a 160.

I've been looking at alternative resources to Kaplan as people have suggested and am going to definitely do the Blind Review.

Thank you everyone for your input, I really do appreciate it!

Nothing much to contribute here, just want to wish you good luck OP! Study hard and be confident in yourself. A great law school is so close within reach for you.

First - Sam_Spade - Do yourself a favor and forget about how amazing you are because you went to Chalteke - or whatever. Seriously - its really not that big of a deal. You went and rocked a slightly less crappy GPA than a bunch of other kids did at your pretty good but not great college. No one - and I mean this - no one here or anywhere else gives a shit.

Op: Retake the LSAT, do not waste that killer GPA. The idea of going to a lesser school and transferring is a terrible idea. Assuming you would be looking to transfer to a top school, you would need a GPA in the top 5 to 10% of the class. Don't be fooled into thinking that because you obtained a very high ugpa that you will therefore obtain a high lsgpa. Thats false logic and law school and undergrad are night and day. Everyone attending your LS will enter with the plan of being in the top 5 to 10% and I just ran the numbers and it appears that 90 to 95% of those people will not be in the top 5 to 10% of the class - Sam_Spade - please check those numbers for us.

Look at Manhattan, PowerScore, the LSAT Trainer--these materials will do wonders for you. Time yourself under test conditions. Don't think you have to take the LSAT immediately; I am 14 years out of undergrad, for instance. Do NOT take the test until you feel 110% prepared for it (because due to test day anxiety, you'll probably lose that extra 10%).

Above all, please don't waste that GPA. Please, please, please. You will thank yourself later for putting forth the effort.

A. Nony Mouse wrote:As noted earlier, this discussion is entirely unhelpful to the OP, who has the GPA from the school that he has, and doesn't deserve to get insulted for that GPA by someone who resents the way law schools handle GPAs, so everyone please drop the subject.

Easily. Again I'll say it...Easily. this might be hard for you to get your head around as it sounds as though you majored in a humanity.
bitch about this somewhere else

not in a thread about one specific persons circumstances
We all know who the crybaby here is--it's you, Sam spade.

FYI everyone: Sam_Spade has been banned. (thanks, mods!) If/when he comes back, please can we not engage him? He really is the worst.

OP: Absolutely definitely take time off after UG. Not just to study for the LSAT, but to explore different things and get new experiences. You're so young, there's no reason to rush into law school. Don't take the LSAT until you feel you've reached your potential. And whatever you do, don't enroll in a law school with the intention of transferring to another.

Good luck!

Here is what I would recommend:
  • The LSAT Trainer
Manhattan 4th Edition Strategy Guides (comes out in a few weeks)
Cambridge Packets of every LR/LG separated by type
7Sage Free Logic Games Explanations (7sage.com)
Logic Games Bible (never used it but you may want to)
