Do you have some insanely glaring app weakness? If not, Cornell has either gone insane or is yield protecting like a mofo.
Seriously, 179 at the bottom of the T14 is 100% auto-admit if you're 3.0+.

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
I hope not. No C&F issues or anything. My resume is pretty lame though (3 years out of UG and just restaurant work) but I've already been accepted to UCLA so I'm not sure what to think. I didn't do any of the optional essays and am a CA resident so perhaps they question my interest in the school? I suppose they're gonna make me beg for it.lolwut?

Hello all --
169/3.67 (Ivy). Also deferred to RD pool. I withdrew my application, but wanted to add to the stats in case anyone found them useful. Good luck!

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to withdraw your application?amsong wrote:Hello all --

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
I was offered a spot at Duke this afternoon, and I knew I wouldn't go to Cornell over Duke. I didn't want to potentially take someone else's spot, and writing a LOCI seemed disingenuous.moonman157 wrote:Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to withdraw your application?amsong wrote:Hello all --

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
Cornell 3L lurking ITT. Although you aren't the typical candidate for this, I wanted to highlight something applicants sometimes forget: keep in mind that you can leverage scholarships. In this situation, say Cornell eventually admits you with a scholarship down the line. Although you maybe would rather attend Duke regardless, you can ask Duke to match your scholarship to Cornell, or at least make some noise about how you really want to attend Duke but this makes it a tougher decision.amsong wrote:I was offered a spot at Duke this afternoon, and I knew I wouldn't go to Cornell over Duke. Even if the answer is yes, or "I can neither confirm nor deny that I took someone's life", I would still be surprised that this was a deferral.bgood2texas wrote:Did you murder someone bro?WhiskeynCoke wrote:Checking in, deferred today - 3.47/179

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
Not necessarily...with how this cycle's going, Cornell may not have figured out how many of the people they've admitted will also be able to go to higher ranked schools yet. That number is likely to be quite high. Then again, this could also be wishful thinking by someone else with a 164 that got deferred.dproduct wrote:Well I'm fucked.Marzapan wrote:Deferred yesterday.
