Thanks a lot! I appreciate your helpAntipodeanPhil wrote:I'm not especially knowledgeable, but I would be happy to take a look.IamIn wrote:Thanks a lot for the advice! I will try to write an addendum. I would really appreciate if you could take a look at it (after I write it), you seem very knowledgeable in this area.
I have another question concerning this. In the applications schools ask about permanent city, permanent country, etc. Since I've been leaving at my current US address for the last three years and I am planning on staying here, should I put it as my permanent address or should I put my overseas address since I am not a permanent resident yet?
As you probably know, one of the conditions for an F-1 visa is that you maintain a permanent residence in your home country, so I would list a foreign address as your permanent address until your AOS - I guess you don't want to state something that violates immigration law when applying to law schools, although I'm sure no law school would report you.

I'm in at Georgetown, and under review at Harvard and Chicago. Anyone else with news?
Also in at Georgetown, after waiting for the acceptance to make its way halfway across the world, and under review at a few schools, including Harvard, Chicago and NYU. Georgetown's gotten me all pumped to hear more news but I have to keep telling myself that besides maybe Harvard (if I'm extremely lucky), I probably won't be hearing much for a while.

I would say you're in an Georgetown. The other two are trickier.Mark_LS wrote:171/Superior applying for Columbia ED, NYU, Georgetown
What do you guys think my chances are?
There isn't a lot of data about true internationals (i.e., foreign educated / no GPA internationals).
Last year, one true international with a 171 was accepted at Columbia and another with a 170 was rejected:
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/jman77
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/JenBunny
Perhaps 171 is the magic number, or perhaps it depends on softs. Either way, I would say you have a good chance.
Why not apply to a couple of schools ranked between NYU and Georgetown?

Harvard should start sending interview requests soon. I don't know if you applied to Texas, but they should also start letting people know soon, based on last year's data.

Re: Official Foreign Applicants Thread 2011-2012
LSN allows people to input two different GPAs - an LSAC GPA and a transcript / self-calculated GPA. LSN indicates which is which by putting brackets around the transcript / self-calculated GPA. jman77 lists his school type as 'International,' and only has a transcript / self-calculated GPA, so he is definitely foreign-educated. But his profile does indicate that he has been living in California, so he might be a permanent resident.Mark_LS wrote:Jman77 seems like a tricky one to pin down. He/she is international but with a definite GPA of 3.86? Didn't just squeak in at Columbia either, getting $30k, but then got rejected by NYU.
It's no surprise that NYU rejected him and Columbia gave him money, imo. Columbia seems to love internationals with good LSAT scores; the rest of the T6 seem much more hesitant. Of course, I have no idea why that is.

Well, hopefully they'll love me! Although, I would be quite happy at Georgetown - DC's such a lovely place.AntipodeanPhil wrote: Columbia seems to love internationals with good LSAT scores; the rest of the T6 seem much more hesitant. Of course, I have no idea why that is.

it would be great if people can begin to post their interview/admission/waitlist here. hard to find international applicant in the "Law School Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists" board.

I think you are closer to a domestic student with international background, which I believe is better than pure internationals.

No KB1 for me either. I'm in at Georgetown, Texas, and William & Mary, but that's it so far.mjitbswyd wrote:it would be great if people can begin to post their interview/admission/waitlist here. hard to find international applicant in the "Law School Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists" board.

I agree that anyone with an LSAC GPA is going to perform more like an American than a true international, but it's still good to know a semi-international has one.

I guess it is reasonable that pure internationals get interviews later, since they cannot make the decision until they get a larger pool. This could be a loser's opinion, though.AntipodeanPhil wrote:No KB1 for me either. No KB1 for me yet (sigh). But there seems to be a bunch of people with amazing numbers and/or softs who didn't get an interview in the first wave so I think we can all still hold out plenty of hope.mjitbswyd wrote:it would be great if people can begin to post their interview/admission/waitlist here. hard to find international applicant in the "Law School Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists" board.

Why do you say "just" got one? Did they sent yours in evening?
Also, is it this or next Wednesday?
thx!

Thanks. By 'just got one' I meant that I had just checked my email and seen it. They sent it at about 4pm EST. Also, it's this Wednesday so there really wasn't much notice.mjitbswyd wrote:congrats!and good luck on your interview!dean159 wrote:Congrats and good luck!! Re: Official Foreign Applicants Thread 2011-2012
It seems like an unusually strong start for two of us to have KB1s this early - although I guess the sample size is too small to draw any general conclusions.
I'm hoping that, since the decline in LSAT takers suggests there will be fewer high LSAT applicants this year, schools will turn to high LSAT internationals to keep their medians up.
And congratulations, Dean. It's weird that you got so little notice - mine is not until next Monday.
