Right? A simple "thanks for spending 80-something bucks to be judged" would have been nice.xylocarp wrote:congrats guys! now I'm wishing I'd waited seeing as I haven't gotten so much as a "we got your app" email from columbia

The only benefit I can see is to gauge how many people notice and submit because these are probably people who are interested anyway vs someone who only applies bc of the fee waiver. Of course those who pay obviously are interested but maybe to help see who is interested but may have a monetary reason for not applying.

Re: 2014-2015 Fee Waivers
I was just going to post about this. What benefit so these schools derive from spamming? They've got to understand that people are getting turned off. William Mitchell is the worst offender. They did this bullshit last year where they told you X amount of days until the deadline. After the deadline passed, surprise surprise. It was extended just for a select few.pulstar1 wrote:Adam Greathouse needs to stop.

Adam Greathouse is my hero, kinda. I was in an obnoxious mood when one of his emails arrived and replied "thanks adam but LST really has told me all I need to know about your institution!" and he went on to send me a glossy booklet in the mail, with a note saying "thank you for showing interest!". Ballsy, Adam, ballsy. Also, check out his dapper looks https://www.linkedin.com/pub/adam-greathouse/60/2aa/289

Not a good idea man. Youre gonna get blackballed at Valpo's peer-schools.NoLieAbility wrote:Give in to your anger. I did.

Didn't get a hidden fee waiver for columbia, sigh. I took the feb 2014 test. Did others who took that test receive a waiver?

Personally, I would just tell them that you are interested in applying to their school and you were wondering if there were any fee waivers available. They are going to meet tons of people that day and this is not a crazy question. In fact, if it's not HYS - which I don't think H and Y are even on the fair circuit - chances are they will have fee waivers available. You have to ask for what you want. worst case they say no but you probably won't be the only one who they are saying no to.
