Yes, Penn! I just finished my app yesterday and was debating whether to give it a few extra days for a potential waiver. I consider this a good sign from lady luck.

BenJ, write the extra essay(s) - they're only 1 pg double-spaced each.

Wait...on second thought, don't write them and don't apply. It's not worth your time. :)

Indiana (Maurer) - I solicited one, but this looks like an unsolicited.

EditL As I typed, got UW-Madison (solicited)

I didn't get Penn either, but I applied already anyway. The extra essay was literally nothing. I submitted a diversity statement to schools of that caliber anyway.... they got that.

Got UNC waiver. Wasn't even thinking about them because of the whole out-of-state thing, but might throw an app their way, see if they have $$.

Haha, I did end up throwing something together. Felt a little silly writing a DS for just one school, especially since I probably should have written a LGBT DS for everywhere, but whatever.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but many schools begin sending out fee waivers this time of year in order to boost their selectivity statistics. They send out tons of waivers to those they have no plan on admitting.

NYU pioneered this tactic according to Brian Leiter.

I tried to get one, but they just replied with a financial form to fill out. No point in filling that out as I have a decent paying job. I was hoping to get a merit based fee waiver from them.

I don't mind that. No one's done that to me (really the only good schools were solicted), but if they did... so be it. Extra application, even if my chances are low, still increases my chances. You can't get in if you don't apply =D

CUA/Columbus and Regent (for the second time, and ) today

It's almost too late for a Northwestern app now, anyway.

I'm not bothering. Saving $100 is nice, but not when you need to spend 12, do an interview, and live somewhere colder than where you are now.

Yes. No dice. Either I'm not doing the hidden-check properly, or I haven't received any. I've checked NW, ND, GULC and UMich. No hidden waiver from any of them.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
