Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers
I've started to receive quite a few post-Dec fee waivers as well ... the only thing is that I started law school in August ...

In other news, I have a friend named Kazuki. He is from Hawaii. He's living in DC now, doing who-knows-what. We call him Kaz. Except for when we call him by his full name, which is fun and rhythmic.

I just wish LSAC would use their system for foreign UGs that use the EXACT same grading method as U.S. undergrads. I mean, I get it if the school uses a completely different system, but in my country we're graded on the whole A+, A, A-, B+, B etc., we have a strict curve, and the majority of the faculty have degrees from reputable U.S. universities. But LSAC still refuses to give me a GPA. All of my 4 years of hard work gone to waste

so did you name yourself after the somewhat-annoying somewhat-musical instrument that kids get at parties? Those are fun, I like those. But you spelled it differently to be unique, right? Right.

Your school's AVERAGE was 3.5?? Wow! My school was 3.24 GPA median. I was 82nd percentile with a 3.65 (will be 87th percentile with a 3.75 after an old F from 2007 becomes a LW....very long and strange story).sibley wrote:heh. 3.34 here. according to the lsac report, the average at my school is about a 3.5... tons of them had harder majors than me, too... but tons had easier ones as well. Lol, funny thing is.. at my school there are A+ grades but they dont count extra towards your GPA(count as a regular A). A lot of professors dont give them because they dont see the point. I explained it to some of my professors in classes that I had a 98+ in and they were willing to give them to me.

Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers
since december ive got fee waivers from Duke, Columbia, UVA, DePaul, Notre Dame, Drexel, U of Houston, and maybe ten other small schools. I never requested any of them (I had no idea you could do that). Really excited about getting the Duke 'priority track' which gives me a response in ten days max.

Arg... They must like your GPA. As they should.quetzalcoatl wrote:since december ive got fee waivers from Duke, Columbia, UVA, DePaul, Notre Dame, Drexel, U of Houston, and maybe ten other small schools. I e-mailed Notre Dame yesterday, and they told me they only hand them out through CRS. They said applicants with x, y, and z would receive them (reportable LSAT, etc.; not any specific cut-off points). But I had all the things they listed, so I'm not sure why I wasn't included in their last batch.

Got a solicited one from Marquette, and an unsolicited one from Mercer. Doubt I'm going to Marquette, but it's my home town and I might consider it if I get a substantial scholarship and dinged everywhere else.
I also got dinged on a solicited one from Iowa. Apparently, you need either a 165 LSAT or a 3.85 GPA to get a merit-based one from there.

Penn State unsolicited waiver with scholarship-likelihood carrot. Also, just got Notre Dame need-based waiver after much effort.

Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers
I requested one from Michigan, and they didn't outright deny me. They basically said that if you qualify for one, we'll e-mail you.
They also mentioned that this year, they "received an unprecedented number of requests for fee waivers." Looks like TLS has got the word out that you can request these things. It was a really polite deny, overall.
Also, Northwestern didn't grant my request, but added "If you are eligible for a fee waiver via the CRS report you should be receiving an email awarding a fee waiver soon." *fingers crossed*

Plus some T-30+ schools, but not interested in them at this point.

I'm surprised by how late we are still getting fee waivers, I would have thought most schools would want apps to already be in by now.

I like how it's a "thing" - the ham part really makes the mind label it an it not a place. Hamline's a T4 in Minneapolis. I only know that because they offer the strangest dual degree: an MFA Creative Writing/JD.rw2264 wrote:penn state, florida state, mercer, something called hamline, university of the pacific, and UIUC today (though i think they already sent me one before this?).

Yeah... there were under a thousand kids in my class, and it's a research institution... and EVERYONE starts as pre-med (there's no pre-med major though... so they're like... anthropology/bme/poli sci + all the calc and chem and stuff)... basically, they're all smart.

Georgetown turned me down for a waiver, but "still looks forward to my application." Sounds like they just want $70 or w/e it costs.

So, can I ask what the incoming ACT/SAT 25/50/75th percentiles were? I'm not questioning your intelligence personally, and your LSAT is high, but I guess as a liberal arts person, I'm always slightly suspicious of the "science=smart"sibley wrote:kwhitegocubs wrote:Your school's AVERAGE was 3.5??
