Hey all, sorry for the perhaps obvious question, but I'm new to the game and didn't see it in the thread so far. Can anyone enlighten me as to how one goes about requesting a waiver (from schools, not talking about LSAC)? Do you have to reference financial hardship, or is it just "here are my stats, I'm very interested in applying, was wondering if you grant fee waivers on request" ? I've gotten some unsolicited already, but certainly wouldn't mind saving a few dollars on other schools I know I'm applying to if it's reasonable to do and doesn't have any impact on admissions.

Thanks!

Just email the admin office with your name, LSAC #, LSAC GPA, LSAT, and ask if they do fee waivers.

some schools give merit based fee waivers (see OP). for those, just email them, give them your #s and LSAC #, and ask if you qualify for one. if a school doesn't do merit based waivers, I think most do need based. you'd have to look up each school's policy on that though; they might have you send in some specific forms or something.

eta mostly scooped

Re: Application Fee Waiver

Hello,

I have a quick question – I was wondering if School X offered merit-based application fee waivers, and if I would qualify for one. My information is:

LSDAS GPA: x.xx

LSAT SCORE: xxx

LSAC ACCOUNT NUMBER: Lxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your time,

Hopeful Law Student

We all are a pretty neurotic group, but good lawyers tend to be a little more neurotic than average.

FWIW, last year I got my Columbia waiver (unsolicited) on 9/25.
