Duke PT with a 169, +/- median GPA... very excited; also surprised... Duke tied for #1 choice

Any reason not to apply PT? Won't hurt admissions chances at other schools, correct?

That sounds different than Priority track. Priority Track acceptances are NON-binding.. I would think any ED type of process is Binding.LoganFL wrote:Ok so I'm a bit confused as to how to identify the priority track for Duke. I got the fee waiver email as well as a guaranteed 10 day turnaround on the decision but only if applying by Early Decision. Is this the priority track?

Make sure you update your profile on the LSAC website to note that you intend to apply this year. Also, if you still have the fee waiver e-mails, reply to them with a note saying that you received a fee waiver last year and were wondering if it would carry over. About 1/3 of the schools I e-mailed said yes, 1/3 said no but they'd give me a new one, and 1/3 said to make sure I was registered with CRS and they'd send me a waiver if I met their criteria (in other words, no).

I sent two solicitations to Chicago. The first one was standard. The second one was based on the instructions from their application which specified fee waivers for Active Duty military.
Got two emails from Chicago. First one basically said no. Second one included a fee waiver code.

Same thing here...my GPA is about 75th, but my 163 is way below median. I got the waiver today which also asked me to consider ED, but not PT. Plus it talked about how any admitted ED students who apply for need based aid would get a $30k grant off the bat. Are they just trying to tease me??Lavitz wrote:Not sure. Maybe they want some reverse splitters to ED and help their GPA median.LoganFL wrote:I guess I'm just confused as to why they even sent me the fee waiver? My GPA is on the high end of their median but my LSAT numbers are 7 points below their median and they weren't a school I selected through LSAC. Could it be a mistake?
In any case, I'm seriously considering applying ED with the quick turn around time. What the hell, right?

Yah I'm definitely gonna apply ED, it's just weird that I didn't even have them in my school list and that waiver came out of the blue. Hopefully it's not a tease but has anyone experienced this in recent years? Surely Duke can't be desperate for ED apps.AT9 wrote:Same thing here...my GPA is about 75th, but my 163 is way below median. I got the waiver today which also asked me to consider ED, but not PT. Duke PT invite today. Also successfully solicited a waiver from Georgetown. Cornell responded to my email and said that their fee waivers are done through CRS and that I would receive an email if I had been selected for one.

I'm curious about this too. The email also talked about how applying ED is a "positive factor" in their review. Almost sounded like a typical email I'd get from a TTT or something. According to LSN over the past few cycles, at least a wait list is about 50/50 for me.LoganFL wrote:Yah I'm definitely gonna apply ED, it's just weird that I didn't even have them in my school list and that waiver came out of the blue. BTW, I don't know if anyone noticed, but LSAC updated their front page and the new chick on it is super attractive

I noticed. Although I had a deep hatred for the infamous LSAC asian girl with the wide jaw, I felt lost and lonely to no longer see her on the front page inviting me to log in.deputydog wrote:BTW, I don't know if anyone noticed, but LSAC updated their front page and the new chick on it is super attractive

And active military? Shit. Enjoy HYS/rubyish scholly/Hamilton/whatever you want. Best of luck. Pretty bummed that I didn't get a Cornell waiver (no email at all), considering I am above both of their 75th %s by a fair margin. Also no PT at Duke.
