Any idea why they dropped 12 spots last year? Quite the drop!TheThriller wrote:they're waiving all their app fees for everyone.maxl847 wrote:Illinois (Unsolicited)
And shadow, any chance this could be added to the sheet when you get time?

Check out the UIUC admissions scandal. The school fabricated medians.cahwc12 wrote:Any idea why they dropped 12 spots last year? Quite the drop!TheThriller wrote:they're waiving all their app fees for everyone.maxl847 wrote:Illinois (Unsolicited)

wow... I was just looking at their website last night and thought to myself that they really seem to care about students some.. tuition is cheaper relative to peer schools, no app fees, generous scholarship...
but are these changes just a result of the scandal?

Re: Law School AppReqs & Fee Waiver Tracker 2012-2013
Any re-applicant thoughts on fee waivers? I'm understandably not getting any to places that gave me waivers the last time I applied (2010-2011 cycle) which I used. I am re-taking the LSAT in a month and don't even know if it's worth soliciting until after I have a score & see what happens unsolicited. Basically, I feel like an ass asking for a second free application...but could definitely use the money.

Lol, really confused why I got one, it's not even worth the $21 LSAC fee for me to apply to Chicago.shifty_eyed wrote:I'M JELLYParaflam wrote:Yeah, Chicago fee waiver yesterday via email, unsolicited.

To me, I think of it as risk vs. reward.
With a fee waiver, it costs me $21 to solicit a program for a scholarship which I can then use to leverage against peer schools. What if Chicago happened to really like you and offer you a nice fat scholarship? You could use that toward a school you genuinely want to attend.

No, it's not hard feelings, I just know that I have literally a 0% chance of getting in there; I'm probably well below both medians. I was just surprised that they sent me onecahwc12 wrote:ouch, why the hard feelings toward the big C?Paraflam wrote:Lol, really confused why I got one, it's not even worth the $21 LSAC fee for me to apply to Chicago.shifty_eyed wrote:I'M JELLYParaflam wrote:Yeah, Chicago fee waiver yesterday via email, unsolicited.

I'm guessing Para said that because his/her numbers are too low. I'm in the same boat, wondering if I should light a match to $21 or not. Some schools have really been dipping low with their waivers this year.

I think I got all the updates. To clarify: for those who got BU solicits, were they need-based or merit-based (mine was need).

mine was merit 3.4 / 168
I also assume it's based only on lsat score because my GPA doesn't yet show up on LSAC.

Good thing I've been getting every need-based so far (minus the LSAC one...)BU School of Law Admissions wrote:Thank you for your interest in Boston University School of Law. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a merit-based fee waiver by request.

I applied for the merit on August 18, got a response on Sept 4 saying they don't do merit, but I could submit a need-based. Submitted a need-based on Sept 4 and got it on Sept 5. All from the same person who sent you yourscahwc12 wrote:when did you apply for one? mine was received september 5th

Columbia does not allow daisy chaining ED's now...interesting cycle. Seems most people can only ED at ONE T-14 now (UNLESS they do UVA > GULC). But GULC's app isn't out yet so that might have changed too.
