Did everyone get the e-mail from Illinois today - from the e-mail I couldn't tell if they were just offering me a fee waiver or if they were just waiving ap fees this year in general?

Hmm... I wonder if that means they had a bad year recruiting last year? Or if it's just PR to offset some of the bad stuff that came up last year?hopefulundergrad wrote:ruleser wrote:Did everyone get the e-mail from Illinois today - from the e-mail I couldn't tell if they were just offering me a fee waiver or if they were just waiving ap fees this year in general?hopefulundergrad wrote:Not giving fee waivers, they just have no app fee this year. I'm still waiting to hear back from Cornell and Duke. Hell, if even Cornell (of all places!) won't pony up a fee waiver, then I know all is lost.missvik218 wrote:Lol @ you this week Helm and your bitterness about not getting fee waivers from safeties!Helmholtz wrote:Everybody needs their safeties. Eh, I'll just wait till early January to apply, if any acceptances from better schools have arrived before that, then SCREW 'EM! Well they need to admit these two guys who are politically connected so it might drive down their medians, so they are giving out fee waivers so they can get up to their GPA goals.

I got Cornell for last cycle after I took the February test. When I called them and asked if it can be applied to this cycle, they responded with a polite no.
I haven't received the Duke or Cornell fee waivers yet.

FWIW, I e-mailed UVA about renewing my previous app fee waiver and they were all like, "fuck, yeah!"

Man, who wants to apply to Cornell anyway? My school charges me for every statement from the dean I have to send in! I'm only willing to shell out $5 for SLS!

So, what does it mean if I'm not getting many fee waivers from schools for which I thought my numbers made me competitive? I know the process is a bit of a crap-shoot, but I'm starting to get worried...

It means one of two things: 1.) you aren't registered for the CRS on lsac.org (I wasn't either and I got passed over by UVA for awhile, but recently received fee waivers from three different top tens after I registered for the CRS) or 2.) Nothing at all. Seriously, don't worry. UVA throws fee waivers at people that have absolutely no chance of admittance. Your ability to collect FW has very little to do with your ability to get into law schools.tangential886 wrote:So, what does it mean if I'm not getting many fee waivers from schools for which I thought my numbers made me competitive? 170/3.7 (Uchicago) is not good enough for fee waiver from UCLA apparently.

Got something in the mail from a little school called Cornell...maybe you've heard of it?
Is it bad that jokes from The Office have made me doubt that Cornell is even real?

Same thing here. It is frustrating; I have received 0 fee waivers outside of those I requested. Do only the top 35 schools give out waivers?? My numbers are at or above median for most others. Maybe I am just impatient.tangential886 wrote:So, what does it mean if I'm not getting many fee waivers from schools for which I thought my numbers made me competitive?
